Mother thought baby was lost

FOR A FEW TERRIFYING MOMENTS as fire engulfed the family home yesterday, Latisa Stevenson could not find her one-year-old daughter.

Within minutes the four-bedroom uninsured home along Black Rock Main Road, St Michael, burned flat, leaving eight people homeless, but the toddler had been safely snatched from the burning house.

As she recounted what happened, Stevenson became tearful at the point where she spoke about not being able to see her daughter, Aria, because of the thick smoke in the house.

“It started in the bedroom. I was trying to get it out but then the smoke and everything come towards me and I had to get out and get my daughter…”
