OPPOSITION LEADER MIA MOTTLEY has called on the local business community to join her in her mission to chart a different course for Barbados.

In a “sit-down” with members of the Barbados Chamber of Commerce and Industry at Hilton Barbados yesterday, Mottley told business leaders “I need you” as she shared her concerns about the direction in which Barbados was moving under the current administration; and offered alternative ideas she considered necessary to put Barbados on a different trajectory.

She challenged Barbadian companies that she said were engaging in “silent surrender” to the growing number of foreign businesses expanding to Barbados, to “go out and buy up shares in Trinidad and Guyana”. (GC)
