Relief at last!

IT WAS relief long overdue – and when it finally came it was greeted with warmth.

Yesterday morning a team of Ministry of Transport and Works employees, armed with a bulldozer, excavator and hundreds of metres of a special geo-fabric, moved into White Hill, St Andrew and by evening had relieved the biggest headache caused by a landslide more than a year ago.

The workers tore away a hillside, flattened a hugely uneven and cavity-filled road, pushed away some precarious trees and rolled out the foundation for a new temporary road. By early next week MTW would have spent almost $200 000, but residents should once again have free and easy access to their community, along with the return of regular bus and sanitation services.
