Vendors backing crackdown

A ZERO TOLERANCE towards praedial larceny.

That is the position of the Barbados Association of Retailers, Vendors and Entrepreneurs (BARVEN), whose president, Alister Alexander, said yesterday that any suspicious activity among any of its members would be reported to the police.

During the last three days, a number of people have been charged with stealing a variety of agricultural produce, particularly sweet potatoes, with some being jailed.

“BARVEN has always been concerned about praedial larceny, since over 200 farmers are in the association. We take a zero tolerance position against those who commit this crime as well as those who are receiving the proceeds.” he told the DAILY NATION. (ES)
